A complete collection of acoustic baffle solutions. Ballesta U-shaped, V-shaped, and custom baffle profiles feature internal cavities that can be precision-perforated, fitted with acoustic fleece, or filled with sound-absorbing material for superior noise control in open-ceiling environments.
Acoustic baffles aren't a single product - they're a transformation applied across Ballesta's U-shaped, V-shaped, and custom baffle range. Unlike flat linear baffles, U/V-shaped profiles have internal cavities that can be precision-perforated, fitted with acoustic fleece backing, or filled with sound-absorbing material to achieve targeted NRC ratings. The result: the same architectural baffle design you planned, with the acoustic performance your project requires.
Because baffles are suspended vertically in an open ceiling plane, they absorb sound from both sides - offering inherently more acoustic surface area per square meter than flat ceiling panels.

V-bottomed U-shaped baffle with dual angled faces - each side can be perforated and fleece-backed for maximum acoustic efficiency. The V-shaped base creates directional sound diffusion. Ideal for auditoriums, lecture halls, and transit spaces.

Rounded Omega-profile baffle with gentle curved sides. Perforated curved surfaces provide excellent multi-directional sound absorption. Ideal for retail spaces, restaurants, and hospitality environments where aesthetic warmth matters.

Classic square-bottomed U-shaped baffle with flat vertical sides. Perforated faces with fleece backing or filled cavity for enhanced absorption. The enclosed U-channel can be filled with acoustic insulation material. Ideal for gymnasiums, sports halls, and industrial spaces.

Deep-profile V-shaped baffle with tall vertical sides and angled base. Maximum internal cavity depth allows for generous acoustic filling. Excellent low-frequency absorption. Ideal for concert halls, recording studios, and noise-critical environments.
Acoustic baffles achieve sound absorption through three complementary methods. The same options apply across all baffle types - linear, U-shaped, V-shaped, and custom designs.
All baffle types can be precision-perforated on one or both faces. Standard round holes in staggered arrangement. Custom patterns and micro-perforation available for special acoustic and aesthetic requirements.
| Hole Diameter | Pattern | Open Area | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.8mm (micro) | Staggered round | ~3-5% | Nearly invisible, clean look |
| 1.8mm | Staggered round | ~15% | Standard acoustic |
| 2.0mm | Staggered round | ~18% | Standard acoustic |
| 2.5mm | Staggered round | ~23% | High absorption |
| 3.0mm | Staggered round | ~28% | Maximum absorption |
A black acoustic fleece pad is heat-bonded to the back of each perforated baffle face. Sound waves passing through perforation holes are absorbed by the fleece. For U-shaped and V-shaped baffles, fleece can be applied to one or both sides independently.
| Configuration | NRC Rating | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Single-side perf + fleece | NRC 0.50-0.65 | Light acoustic, offices |
| Double-side perf + fleece | NRC 0.65-0.80 | Standard acoustic, schools |
| Perf + fleece + cavity fill | NRC 0.75-0.90+ | High performance, auditoriums |
| Non-perforated baffle | NRC 0.05-0.10 | Visual-only, wet areas |
U-shaped and V-shaped baffles have an internal cavity that can be filled with sound-absorbing materials such as acoustic fiberglass or mineral wool. The filler is wrapped in acoustic fabric to contain fibers. This provides significantly higher low-frequency absorption compared to perforation + fleece alone.
| Filling Material | Frequency Range | NRC Boost |
|---|---|---|
| Acoustic fiberglass (24kg/m3) | Broadband | +0.15-0.25 |
| Mineral wool (48kg/m3) | Mid-low freq | +0.20-0.30 |
| PET acoustic foam | Mid-high freq | +0.10-0.20 |
Unlike flat ceiling panels, suspended baffles offer unique acoustic benefits that come from their geometry and installation method.
Each baffle absorbs sound from both faces - roughly double the acoustic surface area per ceiling square meter compared to flat panels. Sound reaches all surfaces from any direction.
Sound waves travel freely between and around baffles, allowing multi-directional absorption. With closed ceilings, sound enters through one face. With baffles, both sides plus the cavity interior absorb.
Baffles intercept sound at the ceiling plane before reverberation builds up. Exceptionally effective in tall spaces - atriums, gymnasiums, transit halls - where flat panels are too far from the sound source.
Acoustic performance measured in Sabins per unit. Because baffles expose both sides, per-unit Sabin value is significantly higher than flat absorbers. Fewer baffles needed to achieve the same room acoustics.
Ballesta acoustic baffle systems deliver reliable acoustic performance across all baffle types. The same perforation, fleece, and filling technologies work across linear, U-shaped, V-shaped, and custom designs.
Focus on baffle shapes with internal cavities for acoustic treatment. BV-Type for directional sound, Omega-Type for rounded warmth, U-Type for maximum cavity volume, VH-Type for deep-profile absorption. Each available with perforation, fleece, or cavity filling.
Every baffle absorbs sound from both faces - roughly 2x the acoustic surface area per ceiling square meter compared to flat panels. Open spacing between baffles allows sound to reach all surfaces from any direction.
Precision perforation + acoustic fleece backing (standard acoustic), cavity filling with fiberglass/mineral wool (high-performance acoustic), or micro-perforation (smooth appearance). Combine methods for NRC up to 0.90+.
All aluminum acoustic baffles are non-combustible with Class A fire rating per ASTM E84 and EN 13501-1. Acoustic fleece and filling materials are also fire-rated. No toxic fumes in fire conditions.
Powder coating in any RAL/Pantone color, PVDF fluorocarbon, anodizing (natural, champagne, bronze, black), and wood-grain transfer. Acoustic baffles available in any finish - perforation and fleece do not limit color or texture options.
Acoustic baffles use the same suspension hardware, spacing, and installation methods as standard baffles. Acoustic versions are drop-in replacements - no structural or layout changes needed to upgrade from visual baffles to acoustic baffles.
Ballesta acoustic baffle systems are specified across a wide range of noise-sensitive environments where open ceilings, high spaces, and architectural impact are equally important.

Baffles with internal cavities - BV-Type, Omega-Type, U-Type, and VH-Type - are specifically designed for acoustic treatment. Their enclosed U/V-shaped profiles can be perforated, fleece-backed, and/or cavity-filled with sound-absorbing material. Linear flat-profile baffles (I-shape, S-shape) do not have the internal cavity required for acoustic filling and are not recommended for acoustic applications. Contact us for project-specific guidance on baffle selection.
Acoustic fleece is a heat-bonded sound-absorbing pad attached to the back of perforated baffle faces - sound passes through holes and is absorbed by the fleece. Cavity filling involves placing fiberglass or mineral wool inside U-shaped or V-shaped baffle cavities, wrapped in acoustic fabric. Cavity filling provides stronger low-frequency absorption and higher overall NRC, but is only available on shapes with an internal cavity (U, BV, Omega, VH types).
NRC varies by configuration. Single-side perforated + fleece achieves NRC 0.50-0.65. Double-side perforated + fleece achieves NRC 0.65-0.80. Double perforation + fleece + cavity filling achieves NRC 0.75-0.90+. Actual NRC depends on baffle type, perforation pattern, fleece grade, and cavity depth. We provide project-specific acoustic calculations.
Baffles absorb sound from both sides - roughly double the acoustic surface area per ceiling square meter. The open plenum between baffles allows sound to reach all surfaces from any direction. This makes baffles particularly effective in tall spaces (atriums, gyms, transit halls) where flat ceiling panels would be too far from the sound source.
Yes. All Ballesta aluminum baffles are non-combustible with Class A fire rating per ASTM E84 and EN 13501-1. The acoustic fleece backing and cavity filling materials are also fire-rated. No toxic fumes are emitted in fire conditions.
Yes. Perforated/fleece-backed baffles and standard non-perforated baffles use the same suspension hardware, carrier tracks, and spacing. This allows targeted acoustic treatment - acoustic baffles in noise-critical zones and standard baffles elsewhere - without changing the visual rhythm or layout.
All standard Ballesta finishes apply: powder coating in any RAL or Pantone color, PVDF fluorocarbon, anodizing (natural, champagne, bronze, black), and wood-grain transfer printing. Perforation, fleece, and filling do not limit finish options. Both faces of the baffle can have the same or different colors.
