Tonerlis Custom Baffle

Fully customized welded rectangular-section baffle system. Variable height profiles, 1.2-2.0mm aluminum wall thickness. Designed for ceiling, wall, and continuous ceiling-wall transitions. Can be perforated for acoustic absorption (indoor) or sealed for weather-resistant exterior use.

Product Overview

Tonerlis Custom Baffle System

The Ballesta Tonerlis Custom Baffle Ceiling is a fully welded rectangular-section baffle system designed for architects and specifiers who require complete design freedom beyond standard folded profiles. Each baffle blade is fabricated from aluminum sheet (1.2–2.0mm wall thickness) as a fully enclosed rectangular box section, providing superior structural rigidity and finished surfaces on all sides. Unlike open-section profiles, Tonerlis blades have a seamless appearance from every angle.

Tonerlis baffles can be custom-designed to any section size, blade height, and spacing configuration. The welded construction allows variable blade heights within the same project and enables continuous ceiling-to-wall transitions without visible profile changes. For interior applications, baffle faces can be perforated in custom patterns and filled with acoustic infill material for high-performance sound absorption. For exterior or semi-outdoor installations, the thicker aluminum gauge and weather-resistant powder coating provide long-term durability against environmental exposure.

Tonerlis baffles are suspension-mounted using a custom-engineered steel carrier system designed for each project's specific dimensions and weight load. Standard blade lengths up to 4000mm, with longer lengths available subject to engineering review. Available in polyester powder coating (any RAL color, including metallic and textured finishes) or heat-transfer wood grain for a natural timber aesthetic. The system is ideal for landmark architectural projects where standard baffle profiles cannot deliver the desired visual statement.

Key Advantages

Why Choose This System?

Full Design Freedom

Fully custom welded rectangular box sections — any section size, blade height, wall thickness (1.2–2.0mm), and spacing configuration can be designed for each project. No standard profile limitations. Variable blade heights within the same project are supported.

Seamless All-Side Finish

The enclosed box section presents a finished appearance on all four faces, unlike open-section profiles that are only finished on one side. This enables continuous ceiling-to-wall transitions without visible profile changes or transition joints.

Welded Box Construction

Superior structural rigidity compared to standard folded profiles. Thicker aluminum gauge (1.2–2.0mm) and welded seams provide excellent strength for longer spans (up to 4000mm) and outdoor wind-load resistance.

Acoustic & Exterior Versatility

Custom perforation patterns with acoustic infill for high-performance interior sound absorption. Weather-resistant powder coating and stainless steel hardware for semi-outdoor and outdoor installations. One system, multiple environments.

Installation

Installation Steps

Standard installation sequence for the Tonerlis custom baffle profile.

1

Install Hanger Rods

Secure hanger rods from the overhead structure at the specified spacing. Ensure rods are vertically plumb and anchored securely.

2

Install Suspension Keel

Attach the dedicated Tonerlis suspension keel to the hanger rods. The keel features clip attachment points at the specified spacing intervals.

3

Fix Tonerlis Baffle Blades with Clips

Position each Tonerlis baffle blade and secure it using top and bottom clips that engage with the blade edges. The dual-clip fixation holds the blade firmly at both ends. Ensure the factory-punched holes align with the keel clip points.

4

Level & Align

Adjust the entire assembly to achieve a precise horizontal plane. Verify all blades are seated uniformly. Check that blade alignment and spacing are consistent across the grid.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Tonerlis and standard U-Shaped baffles?

Tonerlis baffles are fully custom welded rectangular-section profiles, while U-Shaped baffles are standard folded profiles with fixed dimensions. Tonerlis can be designed to any section size, wall thickness (1.2–2.0mm), blade height, and spacing — offering complete design freedom. U-Shaped baffles are limited to standard tooling dimensions and thinner material (0.6–0.7mm).

Can Tonerlis baffles be used on walls as well as ceilings?

Yes. The rectangular box section has finished surfaces on all sides, making it equally suitable for wall mounting and ceiling-to-wall continuous installations. This is one of the key advantages over open-section profiles that are only finished on one side. Tonerlis baffles can wrap from ceiling to wall without any profile change or visible transition joint.

Can Tonerlis baffles be perforated for acoustic control?

Yes, for interior applications. The baffle faces can be perforated (custom pattern and open area ratio) and the hollow box section filled with sound-absorbing infill — typically woven acoustic fabric or mineral wool blanket. For exterior applications, Tonerlis baffles are specified as non-perforated to maintain weather resistance and structural integrity.

What is the typical lead time for a Tonerlis project?

As a fully custom fabricated product, lead times depend on project complexity, quantity, and surface finish. Typical lead time is 3–5 weeks from design approval for standard configurations, and 5–8 weeks for projects requiring specialized finishes (wood grain, complex perforation patterns) or large volumes. We recommend engaging the Ballesta technical team early in the design phase.

What surface finishes are most commonly specified for Tonerlis?

The two most common finishes are polyester powder coating (any RAL color, including metallic and textured options) and heat-transfer wood grain (for natural timber aesthetics without the maintenance). For exterior applications, we recommend weather-resistant powder coating with UV-stable pigments. Custom finishes are available for larger project volumes.

Is the Tonerlis system suitable for outdoor or semi-outdoor installation?

Yes. Tonerlis baffles can be specified for semi-outdoor and outdoor applications with appropriate material selection. The welded box section construction provides excellent structural rigidity against wind loads. For exterior use, we recommend non-perforated construction, weather-resistant powder coating, and stainless steel suspension hardware. A project-specific engineering review is recommended for full outdoor exposure.
