Manwan Hydropower Plant is one of the pioneering large-scale hydropower facilities in southwest China and a vital part of the country's clean energy network. With decades of operational history, this high-standard infrastructure imposes strict requirements on building components: durability for long-term industrial use, safety to meet electrical and mechanical standards, and reliability to avoid frequent maintenance disruptions. Our company was proud to partner with the plant in designing and manufacturing its ceiling aluminum plates, aiming to upgrade internal spaces (like control rooms and public corridors) to match its modernized operational demands

Ballesta Project Installation

Design Concept​

Our ceiling design was fully tailored to the plant's unique industrial environment. First, we prioritized structural stability: the aluminum plates were engineered with reinforced edges to adapt to minor temperature fluctuations (common in spaces with heavy equipment) and ensure smooth air circulation-critical for staff comfort.​

Second, we embraced a minimalist, neat style: no overly decorative elements, to align with the plant's focus on efficiency. We also used neutral tones to reduce visual fatigue during long working hours. Most importantly, we added maintenance-friendly features: detachable panels and clear marking systems, letting on-site teams access ceiling internals quickly and minimize downtime for power generation.

Manufacturing Process​

To meet the plant's rigorous durability standards, we selected 5052 aluminum alloy-an industry favorite for high tensile strength and corrosion resistance. It effectively resists moisture (common in hydropower facilities) and minor dust, extending the ceiling's service life to over 15 years.​

During production, we used CNC precision cutting (error margin <0.5mm) to ensure perfect installation fits, and electrostatic spraying for surface treatment to boost scratch resistance. Strict quality control ran through every step: raw aluminum coil tests for mechanical properties, laser checks for semi-finished plate flatness, and simulated load-bearing tests (up to 50kg/sq.m) for final products-all to comply with national industrial safety standards.​

Installation and Outcome​

Our team worked closely with the plant's operation management to create a phased construction plan. We focused on off-peak hours (night shifts or scheduled maintenance windows) to avoid disrupting daytime power generation.​

On-site, we used specialized lifting equipment for safe, efficient installation, and fixed plates with anti-loosening bolts to prevent vibration-induced shifts. We also addressed site challenges: customizing plate cutouts and edge seals around existing pipelines or electrical boxes, ensuring a seamless, dust-proof fit.​

Upon completion, the new ceiling met all safety and durability needs, brightened spaces (thanks to aluminum's light reflection), and improved tidiness. The plant's management specifically praised the project for minimal operational disruption and long-term practical value.
